Do Ministry From A Healthy Heart.

You were called to ministry. You were NOT called to burn out! Can anyone relate to that statement? I know I can! I had to learn the hard way that I can stay true to my calling without losing myself trying to fulfill unrealistic expectations.

With 70% of ministry leaders facing burnout at some point in ministry, we need to talk about more than surviving ministry, we need to learn how to stay healthy enough to keep doing what God has called us to do.

Your calling has boundaries. Your capacity has limits. And saying no to something that God hasn’t asked you to carry may actually help you say yes to the things He has. Another way to say that is saying no to good things so you can say yes to the best things. The things only you can do while giving away those tasks that others can do for you.

So, take a breath. Step back. Ask for help. Take the day off. Go have coffee with a friend. Laugh. Rest. Remember why you started. The goal isn’t to make it through another ministry season exhausted. You are a child of God first, then your family has priority and then your vocation which you serve out of your calling.

Now, this week, what is one thing you will give to someone else? When will you carve out time to spend extended time with God and who do you have around you that you can really talk to?

Let’s all learn to do ministry from a healthy heart.
